What is a One Armed Bandit

nicknames that have been attached to them over the years? Although there have been many, none have stuck around for longer than “one armed bandit.” When it comes down to it, almost every gambler knows that a one armed bandit is the same as a slot machine. First off, the one armed part of the nickname is easy to understand. When you sit down at a slot machine, you will notice that there is a lever located on the right side; this looks much like an arm. But since there is no lever on the left, it looks like the machine only has one arm.

Now, it is time to take a closer look at the “bandit” portion of the nickname. Generally speaking, this is also self explanatory. The machines are called bandits because they are known to take every last penny from the player. While this is not always the case, over the years many have found that it is quite difficult to win at slot machines.
